Description
Björketorps church located 23 miles(37km) southeast of Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. The present church building was erected in 1861 after drawings by architect Helgo Zettervall according to the Neo-Gothic style ideal, but was inaugurated in 1866. The older, probably medieval church, which lay about a hundred meters to the southeast near Rävlanda society, was demolished and it was allowed to contribute stone material to the new building.
The facade is made of white-lined stone with a dark roof strip adorned with dental cut . The tower has round arched moldings and the roof has a lantern crowned by a spire. The building was restored in 1935 under the leadership of Knut Nordenskjöld , the roof was heat insulated in 1953 and at the restoration in 1974 the church got its current interior and color scheme.
